We Built This Because We Had To.
There is a difference between choosing to do something and having no choice but to do it. Cavacoe exists because we had no choice. We are parents. We are grandparents. We are aunties and uncles and neighbours. We have watched our children grow up in Brent, and we have watched too many of their friends fall through the cracks.
We have seen bright, talented young people lose their way because no one was there to catch them. We have seen families struggle in silence because they did not know where to turn.
And we have had enough of watching.
This page is not about pity. It is about purpose. It is about the lived experience, credibility and accountability that sits behind Cavacoe — The Centre of Excellence in Harlesden.

Not as professionals passing through. As neighbours. As families. As people who know the streets, the schools, the pressures and the potential.
Young people without a bridge
We have seen young people leave school with qualifications but no confidence. We have seen them apply for jobs they are qualified for and get rejected because they do not have the “right” connections. We have seen them give up on dreams because no one ever told them those dreams were possible.
Families carrying too much alone
We have seen parents working two jobs just to keep a roof over their heads, with no time left to help with homework or attend parents’ evenings. We have seen children going to school hungry because there was nothing in the cupboards at home.
A community too proud to ask, but too important to ignore
We have seen families isolated, ashamed, and too proud to ask for help. That is why Cavacoe is being built as a place people can walk into without shame, judgment or barriers.
What We Know Works
Real change happens through trust, care and opportunity.
We know that young people thrive when they have adults who believe in them not because they are paid to, but because they genuinely care.
We know that children do better when their parents have a safe, welcoming space to connect with other families.
We know that communities are stronger when people look out for each other, not because they have been told to, but because they actually know each other.
The solutions to Brent’s challenges will come from people who live here, care about this place, and are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work.
Why Our Voice Matters

We are not here for a funding cycle. Brent is our home. We will be judged by whether our young people are better off because we exist.
What We Are Building
